Implants – are they right for me?

It’s hard to feel confident in your smile when missing teeth have left gaps. Advances in modern cosmetic dentistry mean that thanks to implants and crowns, that Hollywood smile is more achievable than you might think, and at a price that may be less than you’d imagine.

Here at DentalCareXtra, we aim to provide excellent care without the need to travel. Through our partnership with a visiting implantologist, we are able to offer a specialist implant service in Moranbah for your convenience. We even offer a complimentary pickup and drop-off service!

What is an implant?

An ‘implant’ is simply an artificial titanium root to which a porcelain tooth (or teeth) is permanently attached. Individual replacement teeth are often referred to as crowns, whilst plates of multiple teeth are known as bridges or dentures. The implanted small metal post or frame is surgically attached by your dentist in the gum, so the accompanying replacement tooth looks completely natural and feels strong and secure.

How do implants work?

Implants offer a permanent solution to the problem of missing teeth, but creating and fitting them requires a little time and patience. The process can take several months from when the implant is first placed until the final result is completed, and a temporary tooth may be used for aesthetic purposes whilst the implant process is underway.
The first stage is for a small titanium post to be surgically implanted into your jawbone to hold the crown or bridge. There are two different types:
• Endosteal implants. These are placed directly into the jawbone.
• Subperiosteal implants are fitted onto the jawbone just below the gum tissue.

In either case, it is vital that the bone and gum are healed fully around the implant before placing the crown on top.

The second stage is for a replacement ceramic tooth to be custom-made, matching the colour of your existing teeth. We use an advanced Cerec 3D process to craft and fit replacement crowns, producing artificial teeth that are strong and natural in appearance.

What is the cost of implants?
Your DentalCareXtra team works hard to ensure that our prices are always clear and reflect the high standards we provide. Of course, with any personalised treatment, prices will vary according to the time taken and results required, and so your dentist will discuss costs and any proposed changes with you, agreeing on these in advance.

Single implants start from $2,999 and include a 3D scan worth $400 for approved treatments.

You might like to know that we are pleased to provide specialist dental payment solutions to eligible patients if required, via zipMoney and DentiCare payment plans.
