What to do During an Emergency
We want to do everything possible to help you save your smile and avoid unnecessary tooth extraction.
If you knock out or break a tooth, contact our emergency dentist straight away. It’s best to see you within the hour to attempt to reinsert or bond the tooth back into place.
For teeth that are completely out, you can try to insert them back into the socket immediately. Do not force the tooth into place if it doesn’t go. Take note not to handle the root, as there are tiny fibres that help aid in reattachment.
In the meantime, store your tooth or fragment in a sealed container, completely submerged in saline, contact solution, milk, or if none of those are available a small amount of tap water with a pinch of table salt.
If there is bleeding, apply a clean cloth or gauze to the area until bleeding stops. If it doesn’t, or you suspect a severe injury such as a broken jaw, head to the nearest emergency room.
